The documentary linked below gives an all-inclusive look into
plants and their mechanisms for communication.
It was long thought that plants
unlike animals were simple in their make-up and interaction but these views
have been proved incorrect. Plant ecology is complex and highly intricate.
There is so much still to be researched and learnt about plant ecology and their mechanisms for communication.
Like animals it has been found that plants are able to detect and
communicate within themselves when injury occurs. Unlike in humans and animals
where the neural systems sends a message to our brain in order to let us know
that we have hurt ourselves. In plants the message that it has been injured is
sent via different chemicals that are produced at the time. Different types of
plants have evolved different mechanisms in order to combat the effects of the injuries
and the organisms in which induce them.
Take a look at this documentary for some insight on just how
complex and interesting plant communication and plant ecology is.

Some interesting food-for-thought to end an interesting look at plant communication. Thanks for introducing us to this largely unexplored topic and making us realise that plants are not as silent as we might think!
